Diagnosed with cancer at the age of six months, Ashley Corbett leads a forever medically complicated life. At first, her parents were the ones navigating the difficult decisions and emotions that come with cancer. Eventually, Ashley had to figure out what it meant for her and how to handle the never-ending challenges. (More cancer, gene mutations, vision changes, brain tumors, a heart condition, etc.) Through her story and experiences, Ashley hopes to encourage participants to reflect on their own journeys, regardless of the nature or perceived scale of their challenges. Together, we will acknowledge obstacles, discuss what it takes to keep going, and take time to notice the communities of people that surround us. Whatever your tough stuff might be, you are never alone, and we all need to be reminded of that.

Ashley Corbett has been a Rochesterian since 2019 and a member of Gloria Dei since 2020. She is terrible at keeping plants alive and can’t make a good pancake for anything. She plays a few different musical instruments, likes creating with various mediums (including paint, ink, and LEGO), enjoys reading audiobooks, and dreams of living in a tropical climate one day. Ashley has served as the Director of Communications for the Bishop of the Southeastern Minnesota Synod, ELCA, since 2019.
