Do you perhaps have an Irish great grandfather with a criminal past, high school classmates you found were related, or a friend of your wife or husband, a fellow member here at church, or a pastor who descends from Martin Luther that you discovered were all your cousins? Such revelations are just one of many facets associated with the study of genealogy. Genealogy has a way of shrinking the world and can show us how we as God’s children are very connected to each other. While genealogy can lead to important discoveries about our families or even personal health it’s also a way to make connections with others and learn about history and geography along the way.
Tim Buchholtz, a recently retired IBMer, past Gloria Dei Council President, and current Gloria Dei HR member will share his genealogy journey and provide some genealogy 101 tips for those interested in exploring their own roots or working on their Family Trees.
